Malaysian Govt. donates US $ 50,000

Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed that Malaysian government has donated US $ 50,000. Foreign Ministry said that Malaysian government’s donation is towards recovery from the damages received from the especially high swells that occurred last May.

The ceremony to hand over the donation was held at Foreign Ministry yesterday morning. Foreign Ministry informs that the donation on behalf of the government was received by Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid. The donation was given away by Malaysian Ambassador designated to Maldives Rozly Ismail

Due to high swells last May 80 islands from 17 atolls were affected causing damage to property, farm lands and severe erosion.
